The University YMCA was founded on February 3, 1873.

In fall of 2023, we held our 150th Anniversary Celebration.

As part of the festivities, we opened the time capsule installed in our first permanent building, originally called Association Hall, but later sold to the University and known as Illini Hall.

Demolished in February 2023 to make way for a modern facility, Illini Hall was builld by the University YMCA to serve as the first student union, dormitory, and cafeteria on campus.

When the corner stone was laid in 1907, a time capsule was placed inside.

We recovered it during the demolition.
